If you are a local or going to be in New Zealand for an extended visit, you could choose to upskill yourself and join a course to increase your knowledge of the outdoors.
Many organisations offer training and education in the outdoor sector from beginner to instructor level. Below are a number of organisations who may be able to help but you could also try the governing body for activities too as there are too many to list here.
New Zealand Mountain Safety Council (MSC)
MSC offer a number of public courses throughout the year in 28 locations nationwide. Disciplines include Bushcraft, Avalanche, Alpine, Firearms, Abseil, Outdoor Leader and Outdoor First Aid.

The Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand regulates aviation activity in New Zealand. You can find out about general rules and regulations by visiting their website. There are also many commercial flight schools offering training in all sorts of flying craft.
