Snow Adventures
New Zealand has many mountains and alpine ranges that are just perfect for a variety of snow adventures. Along with avalanche safety and backcountry awareness, there are some key things to 'know before you go' in the snow:
- Follow the Outdoor Safety Code
- Take note of the Snow Responsibility Code
- Complete the Outdoors Intentions process – especially for backcountry activities
Be aware of the weather:
Mountain weather can deteriorate very rapidly so make sure you check the weather and avalanche forecasts and always go prepared for the worst conditions.
